Abstract

The constant presence of the terms hybrid, hybridity, and hybridization suggests their special explicatory strength in the current discussion about concepts of identity and difference. The reflections proposed here focus on recent theoretical projects that try out alternative models to understand the complexity and range of new hybrid constellations, among them literary communication processes. Our emphasis will be on Breinig and Lösch’s proposal, which locates the relationship identity/difference along the lines of transdifference, engaging in dialogue with theoretical models whose main concerns are processes of hybridization in identity configurations.
