The grotesque between the shapeless and the misshapen, a possible meaning

This article aims to analyze the importance of the grotesque as a new esthetics which takes place in the Romantic period, and to examine its links with the fantastic literature as well. Since the grotesque puts together opposite elements, it presents itself as a possibility for translating what seems to be elusive, which destabilizes the means of familiar perception and undermines trust in a universal order invested with meaning.
