Abstract

The intertextual practice put into play in the rewrite of the short story “Missa do Galo” by Machado de Assis, the Brazilian novelists reveals not only the actuality of Machado’s narrative but also issues of interest to discuss the different conceptions of fi ction writing from the matrix offered to read. This is what we propose be carried out, refl ecting the variations on the same subject now qualifi ed by Nelida Pinon, Lygia Fagundes Telles, Autran Dourado, Osman Lins, Julieta Ladeira and Antonio Callado, allowing us to establish inter-relationships for commenting on the confl uences and divergences between tales from structural procedures and images presented in the narratives.
