Abstract

The discussion of the different aspects concerning the indianist literary field and its relationship to the nineteenth-century politics lead me to resize their symbolic representations. Within this field, I glimpse the poem A lágrima de um Caeté, written by Nísia Floresta, as an Indian-strand of a political nature, contrary to many of her contemporaries.
