Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic caused significant transformations in higher education, especially in health-related programs, whose training depends directly on practical, laboratory, and clinical activities. This study analyzed scientific production regarding the challenges of student training and teaching practices in Biomedical Sciences during the pandemic through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR/PRISMA 2020). Searches were conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar (2020–2025). Of 15,550 identified studies, 13 were included in the qualitative synthesis. Results revealed reductions in practical activities, difficulties adapting to remote teaching, teacher overload, emotional distress, digital inequalities, and structural limitations. Conversely, expanded use of digital technologies and hybrid teaching models was observed. It is concluded that the pandemic accelerated structural transformations in health education, demanding investments in technological infrastructure, teacher training, and balanced integration of face-to-face and digital teaching.
