Abstract

In this paper is proposed a debate on the possibility of a breaking in the economic under development of Bolivia from the New Political Order determined with the election of Evo Morales. The analysis is based on a synthesis of the economic history of the country and conjecture the rise of indigenous leader to the presidency. The debate is settled on the socio-economic policies put forward by the government, with the aim of exploring the possibility of a deep transformation in the structural bases of the country. Provides up, in order to corroborate with the debate, an econometric exercise that tests the hypothesis of a structural break in the Bolivian economy.
