Políticas públicas: um conselho da juventude

Young people have been the greatest victims in the country's development process in the last 20 years, as one of the weakest sectors of society. They face difficulties finding stable positions in the job market, access to culture and leisure, good free education and health care. Specific public policies by the federal, regional and city governments have been addressing this problem, as was the case in Araraquara. Araraquara is located in the center of the state of São Paulo. According to 2007 census, its population aged 15-29 years old corresponds to 26.8% of the total of 49,000 inhabitants. As a student of Public Management, the author of this work focused her studies on youth. She participated as a trainee in the 1st Meeting of Public Administration for youth, in the special secretary for for policies for the youth. This work is an account of the positive and negative aspects, as well as difficulties and achievements within this process.
