Abstract

The aim of this article is to present the results of a research in comparative analysis of brazilian and sovietic manuals of introduction to linguistics pusblished in the end of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s. The material to be compared was delimitaded through the methodological procedure called tertium comparationis, as it was developed by the researchers working in the groupe called Clesthia – axe sens et discours. The analysis of the manuals was guided by the concepts and procedures elaborated by Bakhtin and the Circle. We concluded that the history of the science in both languages/cultures, the dialogue whith the linguistic developed in countries with bigger tradition in the champ and the social environment were factors that fixed limits, put pressure and directed meanings for the presentations of the linguistics for the future members of this science. The interaction of these three sociohistorical processes are fundamental for the determination of linguistics schools, in the delimitation of the object of linguistics and the evaluation of its methods.
