Abstract

This article reflects on the cases of hyposegmentation that involve double rhotic consonants in an initial context of words and clitics in Ancient Portuguese (AP). The objective of the study is to map, in the troubadour era, the hyposegmentation cases of the rhotic consonant in the initial word position. The mapping indicates a slight variation in the spelling of words that begin with this consonant and the lack of blanks is systematically found in the context of the presence of clitic followed by the studied consonant.
