Based on the assumptions of the Usage-Based Models (UBM), in particular, of the Cognitive Construction Grammar, in this article we examine the construction pattern [DAR UMA N-ADA PP] and discuss its relationship with the bitransitive construction. Through the analysis of diachronic and synchronic data collected in the database Corpus do Português (DAVIES; FERREIRA, 2006), we seek evidence for the process of constructionalization of the denominal pattern. We start from the hypothesis that the construction [DAR UMA N-ADA PP] allows two distinct subschemas sanctioned by a more abstract scheme [DAR UMA X- (A) DA (PP)], which also sanction the deverbal pattern V-DA. The diachronic evidence and the analysis of the morphosyntactic, semantic and discursive properties of instances collected in sites and blogs showed arguments to postulate two denominal subschemas licensed by a general scheme [DAR UMA N-ADA PP]: a subschema with nominalizations resulting from instrument names and another with nominalizations resulting from body parts names. Furthermore, the analysis showed a partial inheritance relationship of [DAR UMA N-ADA PP], mainly those formed with nominalizations from the names of instruments, with the bitransitive construction.
