Assessment, comparison and analysis of prices of the basket products in the municipality of Alegrete – RS

Abstract

This article aims to disclose the results of a scientific study on the monitoring of prices of products of the national basket, in the municipality of Alegrete / RS and their respective comparison with that of other municipalities. For this, a bibliographic research was initially elaborated, through the analysis of books, articles and specific legislation on the subject. Subsequently two other field researches were conceived, the first based on statistical techniques already known by the academy, in order to obtain a probabilistic sample in order to trace the buying behavior of the population of Alegre regarding the places / establishments where they buy the products. that make up the basic basket. The second survey was carried out in the establishments indicated as options obtained in the first field survey, in order to measure the value of the Basic Basket in the city of Alegrete / RS, based on the DIEESE methodology, according to Decree-Law Nº 399. After analyzing the data, we obtained an average value of Alegretense Basic Basket in the amount of R$ 305.38 (three hundred and five reais and thirty-eight cents), for a confidence level of 95% for March / 2018. This survey in the establishments was replicated in May / 2018, due to the national strike of truckers, passing the Basic Basket Alegretense to an average value of R$ 374.21 (three hundred seventy-four reais and twenty-one cents). This information was compared with the price of basic food baskets from other municipalities: Curitiba, Florianópolis and Porto Alegre (the three capitals of the Southern Region) and Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (the two largest capitals of the country). The results indicated that the price of the basic food basket in the municipality of Alegrete is at a more affordable level than the respective capitals studied, however, the values of the Basic Food Basket Alegretense are more susceptible to increases due to exogenous factors, such as the truckers strike.
