Abstract

Throughout this article, analyzes of the Brazilian labor market and labor relations that existed during the 1980s to 2000s were carried out, but fundamentally during the government of Michel Temer in which there was a discourse for “modernization” - read, flexibility of form of hiring labor - labor relations through the implementation of Labor Reform. In this perspective, the intention is to investigate the impact of this measure on the labor market, with a closer look at the State of São Paulo. The central hypothesis is that the enactment of Law 13.467 / 2017 meant a retrogression of labor relations that existed until that time, as the labor market indicators after the publication of this law did not demonstrate the realization of the arguments used by the defenders of the Reform. Among the main results, the qualitative analysis of the data collected from the market points to a strong expansion of activities related to the informal sector and, in view of this, an increase in the precariousness of labor relations.
