Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Revista de Letras UNESP publishes articles by Brazilian or foreign authors which have not been previously published.

Papers should be written in any of the following languages: Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, English or German. The Editorial Board may decide for the publication of the article in the original language or for a translation into Portuguese, with the author's consent.

Should the work be accepted for publication, its copyright will be automatically transferred to Revista de Letras UNESP.

Paper submission

Papers must be submitted according to the format detailed below and sent to the following electronic address: revistadeletrasunesp@yahoo.com.br. A separate file should also be attached with the following information: Title of the paper; Author(s) (in full, with just the family name in capital letters); the Author's institutional status (Department-Institution or Faculty - University - University logotype or acronym - zip code - City or Town - State - Country) - mail and electronic addresses.

Format. Papers should be written in Word for Windows 12pt Times New Roman (except for quotations or footnotes), single line spacing and paragraphs, double line spacing between parts of the text. Pages should be formatted in A4, not numbered, with 3 cm upper and left margins and 2 cm lower and right margins.

Length. After being formatted according to the instructions above, the paper should be from 10 to 15 pages long, at the most.

Organization. Papers should be organized in the following sequence: TITLE (centralized upper case); ABSTRACT (should not exceed 200 words) and KEYWORDS (up to 6 words), written in the language of the paper; Text; Acknowledgements; ABSTRACT and KEYWORDS in English (except for texts originally written in English); REFERENCES (only the works cited in the paper); ABSTRACT and KEYWORDS should be typed in Times New Roman 11.

Footnotes. Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and placed at the bottom of the page, according to Word for Windows resources, 10 pt Times New Roman, numbers following the order of appearance.

References: Bibliographical as well as other kinds of reference should follow Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (ABNT, NBR 6023, August 2002).

Quotations within the body of the text, up to three lines: the author's family name should be quoted in brackets, upper case, separated by a comma from the publication year (SILVA, 2000). If the author's name has already been quoted in the text, only the date should be cited in brackets "Silva (2000) points out that...". When necessary, the page number should come after the year, separated by a comma and preceded by "p." (SILVA, 2000, p. 100). A lower case letter placed after the date without spacing should single out quotations of different works by the same author published in the same year (SILVA, 2000a). If the work has two or three authors, all of them may be cited, separated by a semi-colon (SILVA; SOUZA; SANTOS, 2000); if the work has more than three authors, only the first one is cited, followed by et al. (SILVA et al, 1960).

Separate quotations: First hand quotations of three or more lines should be separated from the body of the text, with a 4 cm indentation in the left margin, using 11 pt font size and no inverted commas. (ABNT NBR 10520, August 2002).

References. Bibliographical references should be placed at the end of the text and organized in alphabetical order according to the first author's family name. Example: books and other kinds of monographs (AUTHOR, A. Title of book. Number of edition ed. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year. Number of pages p.), book chapters (AUTHOR, A. Title of chapter. In: AUTHOR, A. Title of book. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year. p. X-Y), dissertations and theses (AUTHOR, A. Title of dissertation/thesis: non-italicized subtitle. Number of pages p. Year. Dissertation/thesis (MA/BA/MSc/PhD) Institute/Faculty, University, City, Year), articles in journals (AUTHOR, A. Title of article. Journal name, Place of publication, v. volume, n. number, p. X-Y, Year), conference papers (AUTHOR, A. Title of paper. In: TITLE OF CONFERENCE, Year. Proceedings... Place of publication: Organization. p. X-Y).
