Abstract

Objective: Describe the academic writing institutionalization process. Method: Documentary review based on an explanatory model that takes up the idea of the categorization of actions and their institutionalization and relates to some social practices involved from the process of code acquisition to academic writing. Results: Academic writing is an institutionalized practice supported in the universalization of reading and writing and in the specificity of legitimacy contexts generated in a field of knowledge materialized in universities and scientific circles. Conclusions: The institutionalization of academic writing is a process that, in addition to rules, has generated power relations that generate frameworks to legitimize or delegitimize production in the academic and scientific community.
