Abstract

The article has as problem the way in which J.-K. Huysmans, a French decadent novelist, author of the novel À Rebours, breaks with conventional naturalist literature by creating a narrative with a protagonist that makes space an epiphenomenon of his personality. Closed in its exotic world, the character seeks to cultivate the exhausted senses, merging the sensations, aiming to integrate the different areas of knowledge, which serves to give the book a fundamentally interdisciplinary character. Our conclusion is that the author seeks to overcome monodisciplinarity by reconnecting knowledge.
