Abstract

At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th in Colombia there is a stately society, which, being a minority, governs the nation through different strategies. Such is portrayed by modernist writers and by the between-centuries literature that he represented, legitimized, although he also criticized this minority, giving an account of their training, imagination, sensitivity and language. The general objective of this article is to outline a historical framework of that society between centuries, which serves as a contextualization point to talk about it. Here some constitutive elements of the Colombian manor society of the early twentieth century are identified, such as space, the figure of the poet, the family, ideology, transcendental elements in the construction of the nation. Next, an approach is made to the elements that allowed literary creation in Latin America and Colombia in the midst of this context.
