Abstract

This work proposes to define the term and the connotations of magical realism from the perspective of the Chinese literary circle since the eighties; and based on the reading of this foreign literary phenomenon will explore the recreation of magical realism by Chinese writers through a series of general and specific approaches, to be specified, of Jia Pingwa, Tashi Dawa and Mo Yan; in this way, we will review both the development of trends in Chinese literature at the end of the 20th century and the attributes assigned to it, and at the same time we will reflect on the causes and limitations of this development model, which as a whole presents the contemporary reality of China linked to its national democratic revolution.
