Abstract

This article shows that poetry for Juan Ramón Jiménez is the word of ineffability. Not only is it ineffable, but it is the word of the ineffable. This is the reason why poetry is unattainable and why it is always open, never finished and concluded. The poet according to Juan Ramón is a medium governed by a mysterious power, inspiration, which is his inner word, independent of reflection. The poet then becomes a visionary who glimpses beauty, absolute reality. That inspiring power is indeterminable and written poetry is reduced to its shadow, to the form of the flight of beauty. Nevertheless, poetry aims to convey the experience that represents the brightness of inspiration.
