Abstract

In the context of culture studies, fiction is a privileged space for sociocultural criticism. In this paper, we intend to reflect on the issues of memory and textual representation of women in the context of fictional narrative productions about refugees resulting from the actions of Portuguese decolonization from 1974-1975. We analyse Gente feita de terra, by Carla M. Soares (2021), a narrative built on the basis of archival memories of colonial times of those who lived them, from a woman’s perspective. This work appears to be a new contribution to the retornadiana memoralistics initiated in 1975, being now protagonized by the generation of post-memory in the feminine.
