Abstract

The publication of a literature of crime in Brazil (national and foreign) was very common, chiefly from the 1870s. The objective of this paper is to show the dissemination of these publications, edited in several formats: serial, book, installment. Their wide circulation suggests that there was a common interest from readers, editors and writers in this production, which was favored by a fledgling market of literature, created by the diversity of newspapers, booksellers-editors and printing companies.
