Abstract

The Occident, as the famous sentence of Heidegger declares, is “the land of decline”. What’s the meaning of this sentence? A possible answer could be: the West, as history of being, is tending to its own superation. My goal in this paper consists, therefore, in explaing, from Heidegger’s critics of metafisics, the constitutive parts to set up an “open” space, wherein a negation of signification (s), whether in literature or in philosophy, only is possible as a constitutive moment of an ontology, wherein decline is its destiny.
