Abstract

Three years after being awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, José Saramago published the short-story A Maior Flor do Mundo, illustrated by João Caetano, which represents the ecological adventures of an altruist young hero far away from the comfort zone of his community. This article studies both the chronotope and the different kinds of voyage (including the ecological) as literary motives both in the narrative and in its screen adaptation, the short film A Flor Máis Grande do Mundo by Juan Pablo Etcheverry (2007).
