Abstract

In our days, the discussion on sense and on the reader is marked by the limits of understanding as an impasse, a condition which necessarily points to the reader’s autonomy before the text. In this discussion we intend to observe how the reader acquired a theoretical highlight with the negation of the principle that interpretation would be capable to reveal the author’s expression or the literal expression of the text. At the same time, we observe how the absence of fixed guidelines and hegemonic values which characterizes the contemporary theoretical landscape hampers the definition of limits to the reader’s performance.
