Beuys + Vieira: contribuição da crítica da performance à ação Como explicar quadros a uma lebre morta e ao Sermão de Santo Antônio aos peixes

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the contribution of the performance concept as a critical category. For that, we have chosen the work of two artists: Antônio Vieira, with his Sermão de Santo Antônio aos peixes, and Joseph Beuys, with his action How to explain pictures to a dead hare. We intend to follow the ways that the idea of performance assumes from a work to another, from a time to another. First, we have presented the historical presence of performance, then we have followed the performatic features in the mentioned works.
