Poetry: Trip and anti-trip

Abstract

This paper focuses on the differences and similarities between Brazilian modern and contemporary poetry, brought to analysis by the way the metaphor of "the trip" is estabilished in one and another. This mode of reading tries to articulate aesthetical and historical value in order to understand the lyrical discourse as a representation that problematizes the social rank of the poet and poetry. This is a task fulfilled through the reading of "Meditação sobre o Tietê", written by the Brazilian modernist poet Mario de Andrade and its appropriation by the contemporary writer Italo Moriconi, in the poems "Périplo" and "Brinde".
