Abstract

This is an analysis of how urban design influences the Islamic literature in particular the poetry of the Moroccan author Tahar Ben Jelloun. The main objective is to discuss about how the urban elements like streets squares, ornaments, circulation, transit, and especially as the format intricate and labyrinthic of the ancient Arab medinas influence the poetic composition. Influencing the aesthetic and psychological senses of the poet through the anguish that creates the labyrinth is also an exercise in finding solutions by the elegiac poetry.
