Abstract

Children´s literature from the beginning of century XX has in Monteiro Lobato one of its important writer. As an intellectual engaged in national causes of his adults questionings on the American continent, more specifically regarding the United States. Our aim, then, is to approach the presence of USA in A chave do tamanho, 1942, one of the last infantile works of the writer directed to children, write after his experiences in the United States during the Second World War
