Federico García Lorca and the sinister writing

Abstract

This paper intends to show that one of the basic matters in Lorca’s “nueva manera espiritualista” and also in many Dalí’s paintings is the redefinition of two classical aesthetic categories, ‘the beauty’ and ‘the sublime’, from another point of view, the new category of ‘the sinister’. The fundamental theoretical concept here is the unconscious, a problematic concept that García Lorca and Dalí will solve differently in each case.
