A partir da coleção de “retalhos” do escritor Lima Barreto (1881-1922), composta de recortes de jornais, revistas e livros, discute-se a especificidade deste tipo de memória e seus possíveis roteiros de leitura, associando os temas dos fragmentos à obra ficcional. Neste artigo, analisaremos as pistas construídas pelo autor, na reflexão sobre anotações de historiadores, acerca da paisagem brasileira, que mostram a imprecisão, própria da memória, e aproxima, na construção do pais e da paisagem, historia e memória, ficção e cultura. From the “scrap” collection of the writer Lima Barreto (1881-1922), consisting fo cuttings from newspapers, magazines and books, we discuss here the specificity of this type of memento and its possible guidelines for reading, linking the themes of fragments with the prose fiction. In this article, we analyze the paths builty by the author, his reflections on notes by historians about the Brazilian landscape, showing that impreciseness, peculiar to memory, and bringing together, in the building up of the concepts of nation and landscape, history and memory, fiction and culture.
