Abstract

The article argues that, in the novel Pedro Páramo by Juan Rulfo, the movements performed by the characters, their displacements and journeys, implicitly imply an approach to death, or perform a ritual function, becoming a kind of rite of passage. It takes into account both the displacements traditionally related to religious aspects, such as the pilgrimage, as well as the echoes of the indigenous rituals detected in the work of Rulfo, above all the so-called collection of steps.
