Abstract

The literary text has several elements at its disposal, it is up to the author to choose and use them according to the needs that they want to supply. The moment of writing also influences this choice, since each literary movement prioritizes certain aspects: sometimes revealing the account of reality, sometimes the freedom of imagination. Since some readers associate literature with something that conveys delight, one of the important elements of writing is beauty. The author does not necessarily have to dwell on the description of feelings, because the beauty is present, for example, in artistic expressions and in the nature. It is from these two sources that the writers J.-K. Huysmans and Manoel de Barros were inspired to craft their works, emphasizing different themes in order to highlight the presence of beauty in each of them.
