Abstract

Michel Tournier had a solid background in Philosophy and studied Ethnography with Lévi-Strauss. All this background was signifi cant in his creative process because, connecting literature and ethnographic research, he gives centrality to myth. Consequently, his work is deep and original: following ethnography and psychoanalysis, he revisits some forgotten myths that present exemplary existential situations that throw some light on the most secret and obscure human aspirations.
