Abstract

The celebration of one hundred and fi fty years of Madame Bovary publication has provided for the readers of the novel a return to Gustave Flaubert’s work, one of the greatest writers of the nineteenth-century in France. Much has been written in France and everywhere about the author, and we thought it would be relevant to retake the essays by three French writers: Charles Baudelaire, Guy de Maupassant, and Marcel Proust, and the essay by the North-American critic, Edmund Wilson, authors who have written different views on him. Keywords: Madame Bovary. Gustave Flaubert. Style. Novel. Critical Essays.
