The article aims to show how the landscape description in the novel Sylvie by Gérard de Nerval, whose pictorial reference is present in Watteau’s works, much more than a mere scenery, is the resource on which the narrative interweaves itself and it is the one that allows the expansion of time games. It finds in the definition of icon text, by Liliane Louvel, and the hypertext, by Genette, the key concepts for the analysis of descriptive procedures.
