Eugène Ionesco: from influence to creation

Abstract

Taking into consideration the contemporary intellectual context, including that of Ionesco, and focusing on the concept of the absurd, this article compares the thought of Ionesco with that of the thinkers of Existentialism, and mainly with the existentialist philosophy of Camus. From this comparative perspective, we noticed that the work of Ionesco either presents an excessive expression of Existentialism, or moves away from it. But in both cases, this distinction gives origin to a new expression which will keep similarities with the poetics of Postmodernism.
