Abstract

Leïla Sebbar and Malika Mokeddem are two Algerian writers who have brought to the Francophone literature, from the point of view of the female voice, a critical look at the contemporary French and Algerian societies by subverting the subject centered on their fixed and unshakable identity. Through the writings of these authors, some of the themes related to feminist criticism and postcolonial theory have become present in the current literary context. The aim of this article is to establish a dialogue between Sebbar’s fictional work, Shérazade 17 ans, brune, frisée, les yeux verts (1982), and Mokeddem’s text, Des Rêves et des Assassins (1995), showing the similarities between the experience of patriarchy and that of the colonized subject.
