Abstract

This article aims to present the recent work of Luciano Gallino, an important Italian sociologist, who devoted his last years to the critical analysis of the neoliberal globalization process. According to the author, this process would have been marked by the primacy of the financial capital over the productive capital, in accordance with the proposals of the neoliberal formula, which promoted economic deregulation and the flexibilization and consequent precariousness of labour, intensifying the competitive pressure and life insecurity of the working classes. Economic transformations that would be produced by a political process of implementation of a neoliberal ideological hegemony, simultaneously promoting the erosion of the democratic political culture.
