Abstract

We attempt to present, in essay format, some considerations about how the historical characteristics of inequality and violence in Brazil have adapted to the new forms of political struggle carried out by conservative political forces. This would help explain the victory of a radical right-wing platform in the 2018 elections. From this presentation, we seek to identify the new challenges for popular social movements and the possibilities that open up for the rescue and strengthening of Brazilian democracy.
