Abstract

An attempt at evaluation about the contribution of study of other cultures toward rethinking education in modern society, specifically in Brazil today. Critical revision of Margaret Mead's work, as the most representative of American Anthropology studies concerning relations between Education, Culture and Personality. The dilemmas of education in Africa through a tale of Munanairi. Some considerations about fundamental points to be rethought and the meaning of "tradition".
