Abstract
State participation in Brazilian economy has been a subject of great controversy among specialists. My purpose in this paper is to give an account of the most relevant aspects such participation took in recent years as well as to present some divergent points of view concerning this subject. Therefore, I want to make a small contribution to the current discussions about what is supposed to be the real role of State in the economic process.
