This paper analyses the "Nova República" and the nature of the democratic transition that is going on in Brazil. This analysis begins with a critical approach to the process through Brazil nas transformed itself in a capitalist society, with special attention to what nas happened 1964. ít also takes into consideration for analysis the processes of controlled "abertura" (polilical liberation) which began in 1974, and the erisiis of the military and technocratic government, effects and consequencies nave reached our present time. As a conclusion, it offers some perspectives the near future in Brazil.
