Abstract
The objective of the presente work was to analyze food production in a region with rapid expansion of sugar cane. The study was directed to the Country of Dumont which located in the Region of Ribeirão Preto, State of São Paulo. Agricuüural Census of 1960,1970 and 1980 wereused as secondary data source. It increased rapidly after National Alcohol Program (PROÁLCOOL) and around 1980 sugar cane occupied more than 65% of the total of the Country.
