Abstract

The article describes both the debates within the Brazilian Communist Party and between the Communist Party and Francisco Julião in the 60's seen as the most important political discussion on the Brazilian agrarian problem. The author uses Caio Prado's arguments against the feudal theory of the Communist Party as a way to describe two kinds of agrarism: the agrarian trade-unionism blended with peasant unionism of the communists and Juliao's peasant agrarism. Through out the text explores the question: what type of agrarian reform? Only farmer or farmer combined with a renovation process of the capitalist agrarian economy?
