Who’s looking for police and for what reason? Analisys from police records in Porto Alegre

Abstract

The main objective of the present work is to discuss the differences observed among some areas of Porto Alegre city related to the police records. The article stresses the relationship between public interest and civil police in terms of finding solutions to the problems and socioeconomics conditions. Variations on problems carried out to the civil police by population are observed through statistical comparison among the 24 Porto Alegre police precincts in 2005.
