Abstract
This paper aims to highlight how the Brazilian development issue, in the 1950s and 1960s, was a crucial chapter of the “consensus and controversies” of the Social Thought in Brazil. Its main objective is to analyze the particular insertion of Brazilian Sociology in the typical debates of the developmental period. This way, it is intended to rescue the main themes which formed the basis of Development Sociology and relate them to an ample universe of discussions about the Brazilian modernization process.
