The cities in regional processes of integration

Abstract

This article analyzes the role of the cities as emergent actors in the contemporary international scene, specifically in the processes of regional integration. The performance of the cities was adopted as case study, with prominence for the case of São Paulo, in the negotiations of the Common Market of the South (Mercosul) and in that to aim the constitution of the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA).
