Abstract
The current trade disputes within MERCOSUR, mainly arising from Argentina’s decision to impose curbs on imports, have once again cast doubt on the viability of the model of regional integration in the framework of these policies. In this sense, the objective of this article is to investigate the root causes that link Argentina with the region and particularly with MERCOSUR, to analyze the structural or cyclical current crisis and propose alternative ways of overcoming.
