Abstract

This article aims to develop comparative reflections on the strategies of Brazilian and Chinese foreign policy in Africa through the activities of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries and the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (Macau Forum). The point of departure for this article is how the CPLP and the Macau Forum to effectively contribute to the strengthening of Brazil’s and China’s relations with African countries with Portuguese as the official language. This approach is justified by the leading role that Brazil has the CPLP and the fact that China has used the Lusophone legacy of Portuguese colonization in Macau to create the Forum Macau and to expand its relations with PALOPs. This work is also justified by the lack of knowledge about the aims and forms of action of the Macau Forum and the CPLP in Africa.
