“The Three Wars”: achievements and failures of the war on drugs and the mexican case

The War on Drugs, a term coined in the 1970s to describe the US effort to fight the use and sale of narcotics, complete forty years. During this time, the configuration that was in that context has changed. To understand the failures and the achievements of this effort it was chose the analysis of the Mexican case, intrinsically linked to the War on drugs, and because of that, is crucial in this discussion. This article aims to discuss what were the successes and the mistakes in the so-called War on Drugs, using the case of Mexico, through which 95% of drug flows coming to the United States.
