The decline of tradicionalism: political institutional changes and electo-ral tendences after 1964 in the interior of the State of São Paulo

Abstract

All the changes that took place in the local political power are analysed. They are changes which followed the impact of the extinction of the old political parties, the changes in the electoral system, the tributary reform, and the decrease of the federal legislature role. Besides, these changes had as a result a new and peculiar kind of municipal politicians.
